Famous Cartoon Characters in Minimalist LEGO Form

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Wow, these are awesome. LEGOS stacked to represent legendary icons that many of us know. It took me about 2-3 seconds to figure out each one, though I would have doubled the width of one of the “fathers” in a family as they did for a “kid” in a group of friends from a TV show.

“German ad agency Jung von Matt created this brilliant series of photographs for a LEGOadvertising campaign titled “Imagine”. The images show famous characters from children’s television shows in simplified LEGO form. Can you figure out each of the shows?”

Susan Cain: The power of introverts

Monday, March 5th, 2012

In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult, even shameful, to be an introvert. But, as Susan Cain argues in this passionate talk, introverts bring extraordinary talents and abilities to the world, and should be encouraged and celebrated.

Peter Diamandis: Abundance is our future

Monday, March 5th, 2012

Onstage at TED2012, Peter Diamandis makes a case for optimism — that we’ll invent, innovate and create ways to solve the challenges that loom over us. “I’m not saying we don’t have our set of problems; we surely do. But ultimately, we knock them down.”

Samsung – Best mobile phone manual

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

I love good packaging, I love great user experiences, and to this I must say I love the packaging manual VitaminDesign did for Samsung(“>video here). It’s a beautiful step by step process to show you how to put your phone together and how to do stuff…the phone becomes the real Interface while getting printed instruction… awesome! I’d love to get my hands on one of these if anyone has a set to send over =).
Awesome work VitaminDesign and Samsung!

EG Conference 2012

Monday, February 6th, 2012

My favorite conference (which is from a list of many) is coming up again April 12-14 2012. This breath-taking conference is the EG Conference (Entertainment Gathering) that gathers in beautiful Monterey CA. I’d be able to write a entire book about why this is the most fascinating gathering I have been to in 10 years, but in simple words, come experience an eclectic gathering filled with mystery, surprise, emotion, connections, and entertainment for a few days in beautiful Monterey…. you will leave imagining the entire world differently, with a different perspective, and a twinkle in your eye again for curiosity, to perhaps create magic.
Come join, this year will be my 4th in a row.  Let me know if you can make it and I’ll be sure to connect. Tickets are almost sold out.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

For those unfamiliar with SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), you must read and dig into this crazy Act that can and will pretty much screw up any freedom and innovation like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Reddit, etc if it happens. Please sign up to petition against it HERE. Learn more about it from the video above from Chris Hayes.

STEM: Citrus Zester

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Ooo, STEM is a simple design for a whimsical functional outcome. For a fresh zest of citrus on your food or drink, no need to cut it open…just stick it in and zap away (though I seem to recall zest being better from the fruits skin)

“A brilliant Quirky object currently undergoing production is the Stem, a quick, novel and efficient way to get that citrus zing without breaking out the knives.

Spray it, don’t squeeze it! Stem is designed to allow a cook to spray juice directly from a citrus fruit. No longer do you have to cut and squeeze your fruit to get the juice out like a common cook. With only one finger you can now spray citrus juice on your favorite foods evenly. Let Stem add a little zest in your kitchen and on your food!
Price and release date is TBA, and while you can’t do anything about the latter, they’re taking a survey on the former at the link above.”

What happens if you ask Google Images what’s most similar, starting with a blank image, repeating the process 2951 times?

Monday, January 16th, 2012

awesome!

“Sebastian Schmieg of the Netherlands created this video by feeding a transparent image to Google Image Search and asking it to find similar images, and then taking the top result and feeding it back into the similarity algorithm, 2951 times. It’s a wonderful look at an evolutionary process.”

Steve Jobs’ Vision of the World

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Some words of wisdom by the one and great Steve Jobs:

“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
